High Caliber: Seton Academics
For years, our Archdiocesan Catholic Schools have adhered to the high academic standards outlined by the Archdiocese in alignment with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, and maintained their accreditation with the Wisconsin Religious and Independent Schools Association.
Seton Catholic Schools recognizes the strength of the Archdiocese standards and seeks to build upon the tradition of rigorous academics in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
Through Seton Catholic Schools, our network schools will have the core assets that will improve academic performance:
- Data informed student instructional tools
- Instructional coaches to work with our teachers
- Increased student collaboration
- Focus on ELA (English Language Arts) and math
- Peer teacher collaboration
- Increased and intensified teacher professional development
Our specialized curriculum follows the example of our patron, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, who was deeply devoted to providing a quality education to those in her care. With the foundation of an excellent curriculum set forth by the Archdiocese, Seton is enhancing the education of our students by providing new academic programs to bolster success and achievement.
Through collaboration and dedicated funding, the Seton Catholic Schools network is providing additional academic programs to help struggling students grow and shine, and to amp up the challenges for our high-achieving students. Teachers are incorporating innovative instructional methods that encourage students to work together to build problem-solving and teamwork skills. To prepare students for continuing education and for life, our curriculum focuses on bolstering communication and reading skills through enhanced English Language Arts (ELA) instruction and increased educational opportunities in math to encourage students to explore STEM fields.
Enhanced Learning Opportunities
In addition to following our high standards, many Seton Catholic Schools partner with programs like Reading Corps, Catapult Learning, Reading Corps, Learning Exchange, and Project Lead the Way to provide additional challenges, resources and support for their students.
We strongly believe the work that these programs are doing, in addition to classroom learning, is key to our students’ success. While the specific offerings vary by school, Seton is widening and deepening the scope of academic offerings.
At the core of these offerings is our understanding that everyone learns differently – so we provide the resources for successful learning in many forms.
Education at Seton Catholic Schools is never one size fits all. Instead, we focus on the individual needs of the whole child. We call it The Seton Way – educating and nurturing the student in Mind, Body, and Spirit. While it may begin in our academic curriculum, it’s only the beginning. We infuse The Seton Way into everything we do.
