St. Catherine School

St. Catherine is a pre-kindergarten through eighth grade Catholic school serving the Sherman Park neighborhood. The staff and teachers believe that a loving home is a child’s foundation. Parents are the first teachers — and the school builds upon this foundation.

A St. Catherine education is about more than just test scores. They prepare students not only for future education, but for life.

The staff takes great pride in guiding students to excel and achieve in their education and dreams outside the classroom.

By promoting academic excellence and personal responsibility, St. Catherine’s prepares students to be community leaders, future innovators, and strong people of faith in the city of Milwaukee.

The school community is committed as an anchor of stability for their students by providing multiple social and emotional support programs. They extend this commitment of stability to the neighborhood and beyond through modeling the Catholic Christian values of word, worship, and service.

St. Catherine Catholic School prepares students for
faith-filled living and learning – in the
classroom and beyond – through strong academic programs
promoting personal responsibility.

To meet the needs of all students, academic instruction is centered around a multiage classroom and personalized learning philosophy. They recognize that every student has unique strengths and needs and meet each student on his or her own level.

Together, teachers work with students to prepare and guide them on a path tailored to their individual goals for growth and learning. It’s the goal of teachers and staff to help all students realize their full potential.

Jesus is the center of the St. Catherine community – it is Christ who inspires and guides their mission of providing a quality Catholic education. Walking in Christ’s footsteps, students and staff strive to create a school environment in which all people are treated with kindness and respect.

Christian values are at the core of faith formation and education at St. Catherine. Students learn and grow in their faith through daily instruction. They also participate in a weekly all-school prayer service and numerous community outreach opportunities. The staff encourages students to incorporate service and stewardship into their daily lives. Students at St. Catherine are developing into future servant leaders for their communities and the world.

At St. Catherine’s, staff strives to create a safe and positive learning environment for all students. The safety and security of their students is of the utmost importance to the school community. A positive behavior system has been adopted in the classroom to prioritize kind behavior.

St. Catherine’s is invested in building good people, ones who will become leaders and innovators in the city of Milwaukee.

Beyond the classroom, St. Catherine’s teams up with numerous community organizations to show students how success in the classroom is tangentially connected to their growth and development outside of school. Students are supported through partnerships with Children’s Hospital, the Milwaukee Police Department, and more.

In order to help each student achieve and excel in the classroom, St. Catherine’s partners with various programs to provide excellent learning opportunities for their students outside of the classroom. One-on-one tutoring is arranged through Milwaukee Succeeds and Reading Corps.

Students receive reading and math help according to their individual needs through Catapult Learning. These programs provide individualized instruction beyond the classroom to nurture students in the areas of reading and math on either end of the learning spectrum.
