St. Roman School

St. Roman is a diverse 4K through 8th grade school devoted to helping children meet their full potential. Located on the south side of Milwaukee, families from across the area have children enrolled. As a faith-filled Catholic school, St. Roman is committed to providing personalized support each student needs to succeed, learn and grow.

This parish school holds an educational philosophy based on care for the whole child – mind, body and spirit. Students learn academic skills needed for success in the twenty first century, and do so by learning to work with others, respect differences, and build a reputation of integrity.

St. Roman has fostered an environment rich in the Catholic traditions of liturgy, sacraments, and prayer. The parish and school make sure students of all backgrounds are celebrated. Students serve others through in-school and outreach activities.

Traditional Catholic values and service projects are part of every aspect of life at St. Roman.

As we walk together at St. Roman Parish School, we are:

Committed to God through our Catholic heritage and tradition and guided by the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ; Challenged to Grow spiritually, morally, intellectually, socially, and physically in our diverse learning environment and Called to Serve by living and sharing Gospel values within our school, parish and the larger community.

With the help of faculty and staff, St. Roman provides students a values-enriched and standards-based curriculum. Standards-based core classes include language arts, math, social studies, science, and religion.

St. Roman is fortunate to be able to offer an outstanding, well-known STEM program. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. St. Roman offers Project Lead the Way (PLTW) for Kindergarten through eighth grade students. This program challenges students through a project-orientated approach. Successful involvement in a PLTW curriculum in high school can often help students earn college credit while in high school. Some units included in the PLTW middle school curriculum:

  • Design & Modeling

  • Automation & Robotics

  • Energy & the Environment

  • Flight & Space

  • Science of Technology

  • Magic of Electrons

  • Medical Detectives

Technology is integrated into all subject areas in all grade levels. Students work with devices such as:

  • A 3D printer

  • laptops

  • Chromebooks

  • iPad and Android tablets

  • Computers in every classroom

  • Smartboards in every classroom

  • Computerized lunch and library systems

Students participate in their religious education through daily religion class, weekly mass, monthly character-building activities, and service projects. Students also have many ways to actively participate by serving mass, lecturing, presenting gifts, and singing in the school choir. Students are guided to live their faith in every moment of the school day, whether in class, in the hallways, or on the playground.

Each year during Lent, every fourth grader performs in the Living Stations of the Cross. It’s a moving, must see event! Students are fully costumed for this traditional, musical performance.

Developed yearly in collaboration with parish and student council, the school participates in various walks and collections that benefit the St. Roman Food Pantry, elderly, leukemia, the Hunger Task Force, the humane society, Children’s Hospital and the Ladies of Charity.
