Teachers at Seton Catholic Schools include experienced teachers who have worked in Catholic education for their entire career, new teachers who are just beginning their careers, and career changers who are entering the classroom after succeeding in another profession.

We welcomed nearly 50 new educators to our schools in 2016-17, and 45% of them are first year teachers and 16% identify themselves as people of color. The most prevalent preparation programs among new teachers are Marquette University, St. Norbert College, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Wisconsin Lutheran College.

Our school leaders have experience and backgrounds that are similar to our teachers, but they have typically spent a longer time in the classroom. Many of our school leaders have, or are currently participating in, leadership development programs with the Center For Urban Teaching in Milwaukee.
The most important requirement for teachers, support staff and school leaders is that they be deeply invested in supporting all of our students and families, regardless of their background, to achieve their God-given potential. They must be committed to The Seton Way of educating the whole child in mind, body and spirit.

Among teaching candidates, we look for strengths in several personal and professional habits: Belief, Urgency, Care, Knowledge and Responsibility . We also require a Wisconsin state teaching license or the ability to receive one through state reciprocity. Visit the What We Look For section of this page to learn more.

Teachers are interviewed and hired by the Seton Catholic Schools talent team with input from individual principals and other school leaders. Seton works closely with each candidate and our school leaders to identify a best-fit placement based on candidate experience and skill. You will discuss potential placement opportunities during your in-person interview
