A loving home is a child’s foundation
… and parents are the first teachers. Our school builds upon this foundation. Northwest Catholic provides a safe environment where families of all faiths are welcomed and encouraged. We provide students a well-rounded, excellent personalized education. We prepare our students for bright futures through a multiage classroom and personalized learning approach.
Northwest Catholic is a K4-8 Catholic school that focuses on developing students’ character and moral values, teaching virtues such as kindness, compassion, and respect for others. We aim to create a safe and supportive environment where students feel valued and respected.
Support Programs
Catapult Learning
Title one is a federal funding program designed to close achievement gaps and ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education. Currently we have 1 full time teacher who works with grades K5-7. Her primary focus is reading but also supports small groups for math.
Response to Intervention (RTI)
Response to Intervention (RtI) is a multi-tiered approach designed to help all students succeed in school. The RtI teacher works with small groups of students in Kindergarten through third grade. RtI provides personalized instruction tailored to the specific needs of each student, helping them learn at their own pace and in ways that work best for them. RtI encourages collaboration among parents, teachers, and specialists to support student learning, ensuring that everyone is working together to help the student succeed.
SHARP Literacy
At SHARP Literacy, students from K4-2nd grade do hands-on, visual arts-based approaches designed to help spark curiosity and a love of learning. Students develop a deeper understanding of complex vocabulary and build the background knowledge that is so important for reading comprehension. We bring visual arts experiences with professional artists and authors into the classroom and guide students through educational tours.
Corrective Reading and Math
These Corrective programs are designed to help students who need additional support with reading and math skills. They provide targeted instruction that addresses specific areas where students need extra support. Corrective Reading focuses on improving students’ decoding, comprehension, and fluency skills, helping them become more confident and proficient readers. Corrective Math aims to strengthen students’ understanding of mathematical concepts and improve their problem-solving abilities. Both programs are structured to ensure students receive the individualized attention they need to succeed, making learning more accessible and enjoyable.
Ignatian Volunteers Corp
Northwest Catholic is thrilled to partner with the Ignatian Volunteer Corps. IVC is a faith-based non-profit that was founded in 1995 by two Jesuit priests who envisioned matching the life experiences and spiritual longings of men and women (50 or older) with established community organizations serving the poor and marginalized. These volunteers bring 1:1 reading support to scholars in grades 1-5 and focus on phonics, vocabulary, and reading fluency. The 1:1 reading program is a weekly support in which students work on building their reading comprehension skills along with connecting with a member of the community.
